Grandmaster Ip Chun is the eldest son of legendary Grandmaster Ip Man, who was responsible for bringing Wing Chun to the modern world. Ip Chun is now considered the world's leading expert on Wing Chun Kung Fu.Michael Tse is Qigong and martial arts master. He is the author of Qigong for Health and Vitality. Both authors live in England.
Straightforward and efficient, Wing Chun Kung Fu is one of the most popular forms of Kung Fu because it emphasizes techniqu over strength. By using the skills of Wing Chun Kung Fu, a smaller and weaker person can easily overcome a larger strong opponent. With its focus on technique rather than force, it is suitable for both men and women, young and old, and for those of all levels of physical fitness.
Grandmaster Ip Chun is regarded as the world's leading authority on Wing Chun. Bruce Lee--Wing Chun's most famous student--was taught by Ip Chun's father, Grandmaster Ip Man. Michael Ise is also a highly respected Qigong and martial arts master. Together they demonstrate that first form of Wing Chun (Siu Lim Tao) and show how it can be used for self-denence. They also outline the history and the art of Wing Chun and discuss its many other benefits, which include
Increased Energy and Vitality
Greater Confidence and Inner Strength
An Understanding of the Skills and Benefits of Meditation
With expert instruction and more than 100 step-by-step photographs, Wing Chun Kung Fu makes it easy to master the power and grace of this ancient martial art.
Wing Chun Kung Fu: Traditional Chinese Kung Fu for self defense and health Ive been a student of wing chun for over a year now and one thing ive learned is that no matter how much you think youve improved, it is always good to go back to the basics to review, to strengthen and refine your forms, and make them the very best they can be. This is a very good book on the Siu Lim Tao form of Wing Chun. written by Michael Tse, student of Grandmaster Ip Chun. One thing to note when buying these books is that its very difficult to find a "definitive" volume of anything, so its often good to have an assortment or even an entire library devoted to your art. This particular book, while no where near as long as Wayne belanoha's Wing Chun Compendium, its got aspects of the siu Lim Tao you wont find there. this book is great for beginners learning the first form and even has tips for Chi Sau and Qigong during training. the first part of the book has interesting stories of Ip Man and Ip Chun, as told to Michael from Chun himself. p.s. my advice to those who want to learn but cant find a school or partners, is to not give up and read as much literature as you can and watch as many demonstrations as u can. the time will eventually come when you can find someone else to practice with and you will be better prepared! enjoy your Gung Fu!GREAT for beginners and people looking for a RELIABLEsource! Excellent book with clear instructive on the first form of Wing Chun, Siu Lim Tao. The book is a VERY simple read, I would recommend reading through it in it's entirety once and then going back and learn the moves. There are plenty of photos to reference as you move step by step throughout the entire first form. It continues with practical usage, some additional movements, and my favorite, Chi Sau or Sticking Hands. It even has small sections dedicated to Wing Chun defense for Women and Qigong (I'll let you dig on this one). With a Sifu like Ip Chun, it'd be hard pressed to go wrong with this book. However, if you're already versed in Wing Chun, I'd look elsewhere~This book is history and foundation over instruction Great book for Kung Th and Wing Chun background and thorough knowledge of the history and foundation of the martial art, but as for clear and concise training in the art of Wing chun I'm afraid you should really purchase the book called Wing Chun by Yip Man which gives also background and clear instruction in the Wing Chun martial art itself. I studied Wing Chun for five semesters under model Samurai Hanchi Riddle and the book by Yip Man is by far the best option.
